Another good lil' episode, Geekster. Funny, this reminds me of a little series they used to have on the SF Channel, when the SF Channel was good or better than it is now, and it was called SciFi Buzz and it just was a overview of all things fandom. I used to enjoy those greatly, in fact I would tape them, it was one of the better programs on the SF Channel, imo, and they dropped it. I'm also one of the few that used to like Scare Tactics. Slight digression...

I'm glad you equated comics to soap opera, as I was thinking along those lines while your podcast was running. A long time ago I used to watch some soap, All My Children or some such, they're all about the same, anywho, this one wealthy family that this soap centered around had all these ongoing problems. I switched jobs time slots, and years later, I got to tune in again. Guess what? They still have a shitload of all those problems... Go figure, major therapy needed, eh?

I think for the reasons in this recent podcast, the more things change, the more they stay the same, is one of the reasons for my being dissatisfied with comics, that and the friggin' price! Plus, when I read something I like sort of a beginning, middle, and END. I get aggravated when they just went through some 12-issue storyline and then six months down the road, they throw that out the window and then go back to square one or some other plot like it never exsisted and I feel ripped off, no less spent a wad of dough. That may be why I like independents a bit more as well, as they are less likely to do that. I guess the only character that's really died in the Marvel Universe is Spider-Man's Uncle Ben. Of course, he was a Skrull r~e~a~l~l~y... Ha, just joking. I still like hearing about all this stuff.

Interesting hearing your take on Capt. America vs. Punisher, and I think you hit the nail on the head. I think Capt. A is an idealization of what America used to be coming out of WWII, which is his origins, but has moved away from. So he does seem so out of place these days, though it's nice to have around as an old ideal to live up too: truth, justice, Mom, apple pie, etc. However, it would be great to see the Punisher, go even further over the edge and become a maniac Capt. So who knows how it'll turn out? Maybe they should bring back a "new" Capt. America that sort of is shifty & dumb, lies, earns a large CEO salary and does shyster stock deals, starts up wars in third world countires and has people bumped off for the right $$$. Oh well, fun podcast.

Captain America is not more and not less than the biggest hero of all comics industry history. He has not rivals, not opponents, as Levitra Ramos said "he is out of this world".
